Who will perform the circumcision?

Our Surgeons Mr Abid Qazi and Mr Nadeem Haider, who are consultant Paediatric surgeons and Dr Mohammad Shafiq and Dr Naseem Khan, who are experienced General Practitioners will perform the procedure according to the current guidelines set by GMC and British Association of Paediatric Surgeons. All four doctors are highly experienced in performing circumcision procedures and have more than twenty year experience. Please inquire the name of doctor while booking for the procedure if you want to know who will perform the procedure.

How uncomfortable the procedure is for the babies?

We try to make the procedure as comfortable as possible without general anaesthesia. A pain killer medicine  is given before circumcision. We then inject  local anaesthetic to numb the area. The parents are encouraged to be present during the procedure. This gives a sense of security and comfort to babies and children and reduces parent's anxiety.

Are there any contraindications to perform the procedure?

Your health visitor, GP and paediatrician would have already looked for any possible contraindications for circumcision in your child. A family history of bleeding or clotting problems is a definite contraindication to carrying out circumcision in the community. However, before performing the procedure we thoroughly assess the baby for any conditions where circumcision is not recommended for medical reasons.

How long will the procedure take?

A standard procedure does not take more than 40 minutes including explanation of the procedure, going through a process of informed consent and the actual procedure. Although you will have to stay at our centre for 2 to 3 hours.

What are the common complications?

We will discuss in detail the possible complications before performing the circumcision. As a legal requirement we will also ask you to sign a consent form. If the procedure is performed carefully and by fully trained clinicians, the rate of complications is very low.

Do you circumcise babies only?

No, we provide this service for boys of any age from birth up to sixteen years.

What are the charges for circumcision?

Standard charges for circumcision procedure up the age of 3 month are £130. Please contact us via email or phone to get a quote if your child is older than 3 months.
